meet the teacher

Hey y'all!  My name is Emily and I'm the person behind Third Grade Gridiron.  I'm a stereotypical Southern lady that loves sweet tea, front porch swings and peach cobbler!  A self-proclaimed Pintrest junkie, amateur baker & college football enthusiast.

I started my first year of teaching this August in Central Texas and have completely fallen in love with my third graders.  They are the perfect blend of sass, attitude and sweetness!  I graduated from Baylor University in May 2012 with a degree in Elementary Education: Gifted & Talented Specialization with a certification in English as a Second Language.  The four years as part of the Baylor School of Ed did a fabulous job preparing me and my student teaching experience made the transition from intern to teacher very smooth.

Besides being a first year teacher I am also in the throws of planning my wedding!  This coming summer I will be marrying my college sweetheart, who is currently at the University of Tennessee working on his master's degree.  Life is never dull, boring or easy.

The other huge piece of my life puzzle is my fur-baby.  Dixie May is an 18 month old German Shepherd who is currently working on her Canine Good Citizen test!  Our dream is for her to become a reading therapy dog one day.
